Wine and Religion
Alcohol and religion haven’t always had a great relationship. Every religion takes its own approach to alcohol. Some hate it (the Mormons as an example). Others like the Catholic Church have embraced it fully as Jesus’ first miracle.
I think the Jewish faith might have the best approach though, especially when it comes to wine. If a wine is truly only fermented grape juice it is considered Kosher and can be consumed.
For a wine of the month club in the United States, that doesn’t give a great marketplace to be sure, but for the wider wine industry it is nice that two of the world’s most significant religions accept wine as part of our life as human beings, if they only do so in slightly different ways.
